That is what my social policy professor described himself as....Me...not so much. I am a conservative, capitalistic Fag!!! But, in all my reading for this class, I have decided one thing. Children should not be hungry. I can't speak for other countries...but we have a lot of money in this country and a whole lot of excess. Now, I'm a capitalist like everyone else, but what's wrong with a little goodwill and a little less greed?
There are populations of children in the U.S. who have no food in their houses. The free school lunch is the only meal they will get all day. What do they do in the summer?
At the same time, on ebay, there is a crypt next to Marilyn Monroe, for sale, to the tune of $4.5 Million; the previous resident is being vacated so that his widow can pay her $1 Million tax bill. Again, I am all for spending you money how you like, but how about some of that excess and donating a lunch to a kid in a school for the summer...

Update: I'm sitting in the wine shop and the first guy I had a crush on in college just came in...so straight and still...so cute...I introduced myself.

Believe you me, I've seen too many of these hungry kids. If the religious right would "minister" to people's needs instead of chasing us in witch hunts, then there would be no "need" in this country.
I dont know if I'm conservative or not. I have so much going on.... I should care more and my man gets upset when I ask who he is voting for and then vote for that person. I did it last year. But he's going to go vote and I'm with him, so why not vote. Why do they only get one meal a day? That's so sad. I know San Diego has a lot of places for people to go and volunteer to serve food. So maybe if they can get to those places? that's so sad :(
Well, here in the cold hearted no income tax state of Texas, kids get free breakfast and lunch. This continues in the summer, students can show up to any campus and use their district id number. Some districts run after school cafes, usually after the after school programs, about five pm. That's open to all kids and parents.
On the weekends we have operation backpack. We send home backpacks stuffed with peanut butter, crackers, granola bars, capri suns, non-perishables. The kids eat out of there and then bring them back on Monday.
It is really sad to pull up to school on Monday mornings and see the line of kids who showed up super early to school to get breakfast because it's their first meal since Friday.
